Logging-on has introduced new drop down menus to enable easier navigation of the website. It is now easier to find specific information in older issues by searching under different forest engineering categories.
In this issue, a safety publication will assist us in managing our logging risks better. We get some good advice on how to safely fit bandtracks over our logging equipment tyres. Two articles take a closer at forestry grinders. The first examines the type of teeth that can be used on various types of material and the second compares horizontal and tub grinders. Komatsu Forest has brought out the new Valmet 340 harvesting head for thinning operations, and we look at MAN trucks that make use of hydrostatic transmission to the front axle.
