May 2021

In this first issue of May, Logging-on introduces some great training resources from Husqvarna. A series of information that includes text, images and videos makes it clear how to select and operate a chainsaw safely and productively. The age of telematics continues, with Tigercat making enhancements to their RemoteLog and LogOn systems. John Deere has added Smooth Boom Technology (SBT) as a standard feature to all tracked harvesters and feller bunchers. FPInnovations, with their partners, is taking the steps necessary to migrate towards logging machine automation, starting with the loading and offloading of logs. We present an interesting review of current residue harvesting guidelines, with advice on developing your own guidelines where applicable. Finally, moving to road construction, we examine Komatsu’s range of hydraulic rock breakers used with excavators.
