102nd Pacific Logging Congress in Hawaii focuses on logging workforce issues.
This congress will take place in Maui (Hawaii) from the 4th to the 7th of November 2011. The theme of the congress is “This is My Office – Around the Pacific Rim”. It will focus on the concerns of a quality future workforce in logging.

Transportation research - ATRI publishes an analysis of the operational costs of trucking.
The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) has carried out research which calculated the direct costs of truck transport operations. The research considered fleet size and the industry sector, and considered vehicle and driver-based costs. Truck fleet owners can use this as a high-level benchmarking tool. Truck transport technology – Volvo has developed a system to assist trucks in slow moving traffic.
It is common for trucks to be caught in slow moving traffic. Volvo has developed a system called Automated Queue Assistance (AQuA), which takes control of the steering and speed of the truck. The driver chooses when to engage the system and can disengage at any time. This helps prevent the driver from losing concentration which often leads to accidents. Source: www.volvotrucks.com
