Canadian news – FPInnovations receives $ 25 million (Canadian) extension for TTP programme.
The funding is for FPInnovations Transformation Technologies Research Programme (TTP), which is currently focused on researching new technologies, creating new production processes, developing new forest products and markets, and making the industry more efficient and innovative. New Zealand news – Rien Visser receives award for communication and sector engagement.
The inaugural Future Forests Research (FFR) Awards were introduced to recognise research in FFR’s three key research areas. Rien Visser, from the University of Canterbury, received the award due to his contribution to the FFR Harvesting Theme. His work aims to reduce the cost, and increase the safety, of harvesting on steep terrain. Rien was also acknowledged for his industry-wide productivity benchmarking of harvesting operations.
