Nokian has a professional front truck tyre for demanding conditions.
Nokian has used their extensive knowledge of winter conditions to develop a tyre for medium and long distances. The Hakkapeliitta Truck F is a multipurpose tyre that can be used from highways to forest roads. It has been designed for rapidly changing and challenging winter conditions. The entire truck can be equipped with Hakkapeliitta tyres, as this tyre can be used with the Truck E tyres on the remainder of the truck axles.
The spiral sipe system gives the Truck F unique grip properties. The dense longitudinal siping provides 15% better lateral grip on ice and packed snow than its predecessor. The tyres aggressive tread pattern further supports the siping and enhances grip. The grip is maintained even after the tyre is worn. Product development has also ensured that the ideal contact area is maintained, allowing the tyre to wear evenly. The tyre is one of the quietest on the market.
Front tyres on trucks need to be responsive and stable in all situations, something that Nokian claims to have achieved. The tyres groove bottoms are shaped to resist small rocks, and prevent them from sticking to the tyre. Besides extending the tyres service life, it also makes the tyre more suitable for retreading. Truck F tyres should be fitted in autumn. A winter safety indicator, symbolised by a snowflake, lets the driver know that the tyre is still safe for winter. When the snowflake has been worn off, the tyre can still safely be used in summer conditions.
Nokian has also developed a patented tread wear indicator, called the Driving Safety Indicator (DSI). It indicates how many mm of tread is left on the main grooves of the tyre. When the number 4 of the indicator is worn out, it means that only 3 mm of the main grooves are left, and the tyre should be retreaded or replaced. Source: www.nokiantyres.com
