ProgressiveTraction provides over 10% higher traction capacities due to the use of a double lug.
Agricultural tractors are used in many forestry operations, and traction is a key factor when used for logging. The ProgressiveTraction concept tyre has been through two years of indoor and outdoor testing. The first agricultural tyre to feature this technology is the 650/65R38. The new tread has a different face, with a double lug being the main feature. Agricultural tractors have become large and more powerful, and this requires a tyre that has increased tractive ability to match. The double lug allows progressively higher traction to be released when and where it is needed. The double lug also improves flotation, allowing even pressure distribution over a larger footprint.
Field result tests have shown the new tyre to have 10% more tractive capacity over standard technology tyres. This extra pulling force results in a three to five per cent reduction in working time. On the road, the new lug structure is designed to reduce tread vibrations and limit rolling resistance. The overall result is reduced fuel consumption, improved driver comfort, improved tractor handling and improved tyre wear.
