The Third International Forest Engineering School is being presented during November

This comprehensive three-week course concentrates on the use of technology to more effectively manage Forest Engineering operations.

The next CMO International Forest Engineering Summer School will take place in the beautiful South African town of George from 20 November to 8 December. This is the traditional heartland of forestry in South Africa, and serves as the ideal location to get professionals together from around the world to hone their forest engineering management skills. International presenters are used to add full value to the learning experience. With this third offering of the event, the organisers are slightly realigning the summer school to fully make use of technology-based solutions: every delegate is issued with a tablet loaded with software that will be used throughout the course – especially related to harvest planning, digital machine operator assessments, obtaining inventory data and simulator training on forest machines.

This third forest engineering summer school still covers the full scope of harvesting, roads and transport activities. The course targets practitioners (forest managers/experts and contractors), researchers, academics, and equipment manufacturer staff. Attendees will leave the course enriched and competent in understanding the principles of successfully managing the full forest engineering work cycle. The organisers currently have five places reserved for early bird registrations for the greatly discounted cost of only US$ 2,900 for the full 3-week package, including all meals, accommodation and class fees.  For more information, see http://www.cmo.co.za/international-forest-engineering-summer-school/, or contact andrew@cmo.co.za or michal@cmo.co.za
