Stihl releases their new MS 261 C-M chainsaw with M-Tronic

The MS 261 C-M is a 50.2 cm3 chainsaw aimed at professional loggers.

The saw has a 2.9 kW (3.9 hp) engine and weighs 5.2 kg (11.5 lb). It is designed for use in smaller trees and for debranching operations. Some of the key features of the new saw are as follows:

  • A 2-MIX engine that combines a cylinder with four-channel technology and a stratified charge system. This results in higher torque over a wider rpm range, while simultaneously achieving up to 50% lower exhaust gas emissions and up to 20% lower fuel consumption compared to Stihl two-stroke engines of the same engine class without 2-MIX technology.
  • A M-Tronic ignition system precisely and electronically meters the fuel supply even when conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality change. No manual carburettor adjustments with adjustment screws are necessary. The M-Tronic saves previous settings and restores them when the saw is restarted. The M-Tronic is able to distinguish between a cold or warm start, so there is only one start position on the combi-lever.
  • The saw has a long-life air filter system which uses air routing to remove larger particles of dirt. This means that the filter has to do less and will last longer.
