John Deere – 1710 forwarder to remain available to some markets
John Deere has indicated that the 1710D forwarder will still be available in certain countries, one of which is South Africa. This is due to its simplistic reliability which some markets prefer.
Tigercat – Consolidation of manufacturing facilities
Tigercat will be selling two of its smaller manufacturing facilities in Canada. This will improve engineering and production processes. All rubber tyred machines will now be manufactured in one facility. Source: www.tigercat.com

The April (1) issue of Logging-on featured Franklin. Franklin went into liquidation last year and are now completely off the market.

Wood Resources International – Global shipments of woodchips 14% down in 2009
The reduction was equal for hardwood and softwood. Turkey and China however increased their imports by 50% and nearly 300% respectively. China is now the second biggest importer of chips after Japan. The biggest exporters were Australia, Chile, USA, Vietnam and South Africa. Source: www.wri-ltd.com
Caterpillar – New Prentice SC-57 center post saw for wheeled feller bunchers
