Tigercat makes changes to their 822D Series carriers
Tigercat has swapped the Tigercat FPT C87 engine for the N67 to more closely match to the duty cycle of this series of harvesters and feller bunchers. The models on offer with the N67 engine will include the 822D, L822D, H822D and LH822D. The machines will be available with Tier 2 or Tier 4f engine configurations for sale worldwide. Tigercat will continue to produce the LX830D with the C87 engine and closed loop track drives for the North American market. Source
Logset produces a new harvester head for eucalypts
The TH65 Euca is designed for harvesting and debarking medium-sized eucalypt trees. This is Logset’s third harvester head designed for eucalypts. The dimensions of the TH65 Euca are similar to the TH65. It weighs 1,100 kg (2,400 lb) and can be mounted onto a Logset 8H GT harvester or on 20 to 25 tonne tracked carriers. The feeding wheels and delimbing knives have parallel feed, which keeps the tree centred in the harvester head. Source
Ponsse announces new features in their service application to include chains and bars
The application now shows Ponsse forest machine filter sets and, for the first time, saw chains and bars. In addition, the App now also makes finding the correct product quicker. The contents of the application will continue to grow this year, and it will be updated with its next feature in June. Source
John Deere expects forestry equipment sales to be down by 5 % for 2017
Construction and forestry sales increased 7 % for the last quarter and 1 % for six months. Sales of construction and forestry equipment are forecast to be up about 13 % for 2017. However, in forestry, global industry sales are expected to be down about 5 % due to soft conditions in North America. Source
Caterpillar names Chicago, Illinois, as their new global headquarters
Their new global headquarters will be in Deerfield, Illinois, a northern Chicago suburb. The new headquarters building is close to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, is centrally located near major interstates and offers direct access to the Chicago Metra. This will allow Cat to be more accessible to their global customers, dealers and employees. Cat expects about 100 employees to relocate this year, with about 300 people in the new headquarters when fully operational in mid-2018. Source
