New Products - Morbark chipper, I mean mulcher........ No, both!

Two machines in one! Morbark’s new Quick Switch allows you to convert your grinder into a chipper.

Morbark’s Quick Switch grinder to chipper conversion kit allows grinder owners to convert their grinders into high volume drum chippers in approximately three hours. Therefore chips and mulched material can be produced from the same machine, eliminating the need for two machines. No special tools are required to carry out the conversion. The chipper conversion kit comes as a complete drum skin which is mounted onto the circumference of the grinder rotor.

The conversion kit works on the 3800, 4600, 4600XL and 6600 (which does require a special tool) wheeled and tracked horizontal grinder models. You can choose 8, 10, 12 or 16 knives in a staggered pattern. The knives are the same as those used in the Morbark drum chipper range. The chipper knives are offered in both babbited and double edged styles. The standard grinder screen can be left in place or it can be changed depending on the final product required. The result is chips with a more uniform size distribution. The chip sizes produced depends on grinder model, feed speeds, type of wood, knife condition and drum speed, but an indication is provided in the table below.
