The versatile new Lodestar hoist has been released by Columbus McKinnon.
The Lodestar is an electric hoist capable of lifting loads up to 3 tons. The new model contains many new features, without compromising the design quality of earlier models. Less maintenance and easier inspection has been achieved through improved brake location for quick access. The gearbox requires no oil changes as it is grease lubricated. The clutch is located outside the gearbox, resulting in easier access and not having to disassemble the entire unit. The clutch is also located outside the load path, which prevents slipping of the load when the brake is not powered.
Chain life has been improved by using a new five-sprocket lift wheel. This is due to better chain and lift gear engagement for smoother lifting, and reduced vibrations. Zinc plating is used to protect the chain. There is an 80% reduction in sound compared to the previous Lodestar model. The new Lodestar is also “greener” than previous models due to grease being used for lubrication, as opposed to oils which must be changed and disposed of. A fabric chain container and rigid hook suspension is standard with every Lodestar. The Lodestar is manufactured in the USA and carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing and material defects.
