John Deere launches educational woody biomass website

The website is designed to educate and inform about the importance of harvesting woody biomass.

It can be accessed at www.woodybiomass.com. The website explains what woody biomass is, why it is important to harvest it, how it works as a fuel and public policies needed to encourage responsible harvesting and use of biomass. It also includes expert observations, how to make woody biomass use a reality, evidence that it works and information on “eco-friendly” machines. The website is easy to navigate and provides concise information for people new to the use of woody biomass.

Three short videos, including observations from various experts, try to provide insight to help educate people regarding woody biomass. The videos cover:

  1. “Harvesting a Cleaner Environment” – shows how woody biomass can be processed into liquid fuel.
  2. “Healthier Forests” – shows how forest floor residue can accelerate forest fires.
  3. “Stronger Rural Communities” – shows how harvesting woody biomass can help build rural communities.
