Featured Conference - COFE - Engineering the Forest Value Chain

The 34th Council on Forest Engineering Annual Meeting is being held in Quebec City in June 2011.

The conference programme runs from the 12th to the 15th of June in Quebec, Canada. The preliminary programme has been released on the conference website. Five keynote speakers have been confirmed:
 
  • Rejan Pare – The president and CEO of Gestion Remabec inc.
  • Charles Tardif – Responsible for VP Business Development at Maibec inc.
  • Jean-Francois Gingras – Director at FPInnovations: Forest Operations
  • Mikael Ronnqvist – Professor at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration
  • Matthias Kannegiesser - Associate Consultant at A.T. Kearney
     
Over 40 technical papers will be presented, covering forest logistics systems, environment impact mitigation, forest biomass valuation, human factors, innovative harvest and transportation systems, integration of the supply chain, and productivity and costs. The conference includes two days of technical presentations and a field trip. The field trip will look at the challenges of harvesting small trees, harvesting on sensitive sites, a life-size road construction lab and a newly designed timber bridge made entirely of engineered-wood products. A conference banquet will take place and a spouse’s tour that explores Old Quebec, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and other interesting places.
