Cranab has long been recognised for its harvester and forwarder cranes for forestry machines. It is now introducing truck cranes for forestry.
Truck cranes formed part of Cranab's product range earlier in its more than 50 year history, but the decision was made to focus on off-road forestry cranes at the end of the 1990s. The first new model, TZ12, was unveiled at the Skogsnolia exhibition in Sweden. It is a 12 tonne-metre crane that will initially be available with two reaches, being 9.3 m (30.5 ft) and 10.5 m (34.5 ft). Cranab indicate that their engineers and crane builders have used their experience of the tough standards required for logging machine cranes. They indicate that many of the principles are the same, even though there are important differences when building cranes for trucks, where weight has a higher priority to maximise payloads.
The crane on show at Skogsnolia was the first prototype. It has already passed certain stress and fatigue tests. In the immediate future, the TZ12 will work on trucks with customers in the forest, and this will be followed by the final evaluation, adjustments and calibration. The sales launch is planned for 2016. The longer-term plans for Cranab is to build up a range of L and Z cranes for forestry and recycling trucks. Production will take place at Cranab's factories in Vindeln. Source: http://www.cranab.se/static/en/320/images/truck-cranes_cranab_june2015_engb.pdf
